Singpost got creative in easing junk flyers in our HDB mailbox
Spotted in one local forum, this order form is for advertiser to pay Singpost for their flyer, brochure, ads mail etc to be delivered to HDB mailbox by postman. Click to enlarge.
Hey Singpost, dun liketat leh! HDB cleaner has had hard time sweeping up area around the mailbox.
Can you also design another form for us to pay you so that those junk will not come to our mailbox? My wife keeps complaining about this.

Harvard law professor argues about P2P fair use
"It would be a bizarre statute indeed that offered two completely unrelated remedies, one which granted actual damages and lost profits, and the other of which granted plaintiffs the right to drive a flock of sheep across federal property on the third day of each month."
Ars Technica, Harvard prof tells judge that P2P filesharing is "fair use".

AWARE coup is pre planned and purpose driven
In today Wayang party news, several leaked emails provided more insight into the fiasco. To the surprise of many, I think it is righteous. Why are we so upset? This happens all the time in the history of human kind. Someone oust the old king, built a prosperous kingdom, oust by some other.
If it is believe to be a just cause, why not?
In one email, Shawn urges,
“AWARE is an organization that has existed in Singapore for many years. It is a non-profit body dedicated to women’s advocacy and gender equality. They protect women’s rights and help develop women to their fullest potential. In the last few years, AWARE has aggressively become involved in gay activism. Many members of their committee are pro-gay. They have even conducted a sexual education programme in some schools that teach young people that it is normal and alright to behave homosexually. They have also screened a lesbian-themed movie Spider Lilies at a Charity Ball.”
(Link)
I will applause if not for the method they used to take over the organization. Courage and conviction was shown.
My question, did the head of Church of our Savior orchestra this coup?

New proposed Act gives more powder to our police, you should feel safer soon
I keep wondering. Why HDB recently installed CCTV in my block’s lifts, without even a simple FYI to the resident. It is of course, for security purposes. Silly. Mas Selamat is still at large. He is very likely… still in Singapore. We should keep our eye open.
Thinking of this, I can totally understand why there is a need to regulate outdoor activities.
News - New Act Aims To Give More Power to Police.
Hmm.. more power to police is a good thing. You can never know. Nowadays, fanatic are very resourceful, they can pass immigration undetected, disguise as good, obedient citizen and then organize a seemingly innocence fellowship at East Coast. Just waiting to disrupt our social order. Good thinking.
I am also intrigue by the coverage of this Act - “The order can also be issued pre-emptively, meaning police can intervene if they assess that an offence is about to be committed.” Strike first, prove later. Very efficient. Something like ISA. Right?
Link to the proposed Act here – (Link)
But I must protest here. I like to take video at my children’s school leh! With the new act, it may not be so convenience for me.
I have a suggestion. Why not make all proven good citizen wear an “innocence” hand-band so police cannot anyhow spot check them. That would make us safer.

China govt move to shut down ten thousand unregistered web sites
By the time of this post, many Blog, small business site and maybe, non profit web may be black out, for the reason that they are not ‘approved’ by the government. Direct quote,
“But since most are small, he says the revenue hit is likely to be smaller, in the 1%-2% range..”
Yeah, right! After they got registered, business can go on. 2% revenue is damn cheap to take down those undesirable sites.

Kazakhstan passed new religious bill, then jail missionary
Here’s the PDF document (Link) to a report on the bill passed on 26th Nov 2008. Under those points, for example, I try to explain some interesting one,
- That “small religious group” is not allowed to conduct religious rite, nor own building
- Cannot like, practice in a legally own house if you are not registered. That makes virtually every new found belief one of them.
Severity of punishments includes exportation from the country. Kazakhstan is World’s 9th largest nation, population consists 40 over percent of Muslim and Russian Orthodox. (Thanks, David)
Japan forumers want government to redefine marriage
I am pointed to this Japanese forum, and informed that it is about a petition to urge Japanese government to legitimize virtual marriage, not a common kind you may guess. It is a union between real world people with a 2D Manga/Animated character.
I can’t read Japanese Kanji, hence no way I can confirm this. The number on the right increases by 5-10 each day. My question is, will Japan government pass the law if this amasses enough number? Like, say ten thousand.

Twenty percent lives in “partly free’ nations such as Ecuador, Colombia, Malaysia and Singapore, while 46 percent are “free,” including Taiwan, Indonesia, Ukraine and Brazil.”

Self ownership, the philosophy of Liberty
An intriguing video which promotes ideas of self reliance, and ownership. The background music is riveting, and presentation, thought provoking. I pause at many slides in order to understand some of its deep content. This video is shared through Facebook, also available on its original site.(Link) Video, via jonathangullible.com, The philosophy of Liberty.

Wiki read – The Great China firewall
The Chinese version is translated into 防火长城. This Wiki article keeps an updated list of website, blog, provocative content that is or was block by the Great China firewall. The firewall filters keyword, idea, imagery or IP. I was kind of tempted to add my blog there, as many of my China friends can’t access them. I believe you may also notice your site stat shows no China hit at all. How can this be? China have more netizen than few nation combines. Wiki entry here.
