The extra 1 second delay in 2008

1 second of earthWhat do you do with an extra one second in life? Astronomy.com,

“On December 31, 2008, a "leap second" will be added to the world's clocks at 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).”

This, will dramatically change our count down on 31st Dec? Would you feel the one second older next year? Astronomy.com also reveals an interesting fact that Earth rotation is gradually slowing down, sort of like when you reach 40.

It is just a shifting, not adding nor stretching. Thus, there isn't any extra 1 second in life, sorry :)

As for the count down, it is never meant to be accurate anyway.
